SUMMIT COUNTY - As firefighters worked to control the Fourmile Fire in Boulder County Tuesday, local fire officials urged residents to be cautious and stay prepared for such an emergency in Summit County.
Fire danger in Summit County rose from "high" to "very high" Tuesday, and a small fire broke out on Sentinel Island in Frisco Bay. Lake Dillon Fire Rescue (LDFR) responded to the 100-square-foot blaze, which was found to be dying out when crews arrived. Investigators believe the fire was caused by humans but was not a campfire.
"It was probably more of a deliberate act," LDFR spokesman Steve Lipsher said. "Fortunately, the winds died down - otherwise more of the island could have burned. If anyone saw anything suspicious, we would love them to report it to local authorities."
The 7,000-acre fire in Boulder, which has burned several homes, "is a good wake-up call for all of us," Lipsher said.

DILLON - Dogs of all shapes, colors, breeds and sizes hung out with their owners Monday afternoon at the Dillon Marina. Why? For the Marina Mutt Contest, of course. And they worked their magic, looking extra cute with costumes, tricks and lots of love for everyone.
As both a fundraiser for League for Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS) and an end-of-summer celebration, the dog-friendly Labor Day tradition was free to all and featured three contests - best trick, best howl and best pet/owner look-alike. Winners took home fun prizes.
"It's a fun, low-key dog contest," Dillon Marina staffer Shannon Jakoby said. "Dogs come from all over the country, and it raises awareness for LAPS."
There were definitely dogs from all over too - Colorado, Texas, Georgia and Missouri. And some even wore costumes - balloons, a tie-dye T-shirt and a hot-dog outfit, to name a few.

FRISCO - The sun was shining, the wind was blowing and the streets were abound with visitors - Labor Day weekend was bustling Sunday in Frisco, as people took to the streets to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Dillon Reservoir was also full of boats, while sidewalks were teaming with pedestrians and bikers. It was High Country heaven - perfect weather, window shopping and plenty of recreation options.
A group of young people from Kansas were strolling around Frisco's main drag around lunchtime, taking in the sites. They said they were here for a wedding at Copper Mountain and were looking for fun things to do.
"It's gorgeous here," said Dominique Wood.
The visitors from Kansas said they were heading to the Alpine Slide in Breckenridge, and they'd gone on a hike at Copper Mountain.
"Let's move here," Jessica Patterson said, with a smile.
